I too have eliminated all man-made chemicals from my household after becoming aware of their damaging effects on the environment.

I suffer from eczema on my hands and so started using natural handmade soaps and liquid handwashes. My children are also prone to the odd eczema outbreak and so they went natural too! I binned a whole 500ml bottle of Johnsons Baby Shampoo when I realised what went into it, they now use a "green" shampoo. My husband thinks I am turning my two sons aged 5 and 8 into softies as they love orange oil in their bath water and fight over who will get the leg massage first. Bath times are now a lot calmer and relaxing in our household!

Around the home I use natural cleaning products, sometimes I add a few drops of essential oil to enhance their aroma or to make them antibacterial.

I am looking forward to making my own lip balms, so I'll be putting in another order quite soon!

There has recently been suggested a link between breast cancer and the use of deoderants, as well as many chemicals used in toiletries being found in breast milk.

If anyone has a recipe for natural deoderant, please can they post it here. Thanks.

I totally agree that we should use natural cleaners for our homes.

The companies that manufacture chemical cleaners portray germs as monsters in their adverts to scare us into buying their products.

Could it be that these chemicals do us as much harm as the germs they are trying to get rid of?

I started to 'go natural' with my toiletries three years ago. It is so satisfying to make your own products and not have the chemicals so common in most shop toiletries. My faves are rosehip oil and virgin coconut oil, either used alone as moisturisers or in recipes for body creams. Our ancestors used natural products in skin care and I think we should do the same. The added bonus is that no animals are tested on......it's the only way to go!
